Sounds and Colours Brazil

£8.00 / On Sale

BOOK + CD PACKAGE. Sounds and Colours Brazil is a 200-page book and 20-track CD focused on Brazilian music and culture.

It's the first book to go in-depth on alternative culture in Brazil, bringing to life the underground music scenes in its major cities, the current state of Brazilian cinema, the role of DIY and self-publishing in establishing poets, writers and artists, and lots more on Brazilian music, film, art and literature. This is in addition to features on the cultural movements, musical styles and important figures that have helped shape the Brazil we see today. The book contains articles, photos and illustrations showing a vast panorama of Brazilian culture.

Collaborators to the project include regular contributors to Wax Poetics, Afropop Worldwide, Songlines and Rolling Stone Brasil. The 20-track compilation contains music from across Brazil, including guitar-driven Amazonian party music from Felipe Cordeiro, big-band afrobeat from Bixiga 70, ground-breaking hip-hop from Sombra, experimental rock from Chinese Cookie Poets and bass-heavy dub from OQuadro, to name just a few of the artists and styles featured.
